Vintage Reverse Holofoils Post 50–60% Weekly Gains Across E-Series and ex-Era Cards

Five cards spanning Aquapolis, Skyridge, Sandstorm, Unseen Forces, and HS—Unleashed all logged sharp price moves in the seven days ending September 11, 2026.

A cluster of vintage reverse holofoils dominated the weekly gainers list during the period ending September 11, 2026, with five cards from the E-Series and ex-era posting gains between 53.7% and 60.0%. The moves span multiple sets and a wide range of price points, from single-digit dollar cards to triple-digit collectibles.

What links them is format: all five are reverse holofoil printings from an era that predates the modern card design overhaul, a segment of the market that has historically attracted both set completionists and condition-focused collectors chasing PSA and BGS slabs.

The Cards and the Numbers

Scizor (Aquapolis #32) recorded the largest absolute and percentage gain of the group, moving from $112.50 to $180.00 — a $67.50 increase representing a 60.0% rise over seven days. Aquapolis reverse holofoils are among the more sought-after cards in the E-Series, and Scizor's jump pushes it firmly into a higher pricing tier.

Meowth (Skyridge #78) followed with a move from $84.99 to $129.99, a gain of $45.00 or 52.9%. Skyridge is widely regarded as one of the most difficult E-Series sets to complete in reverse holo, owing to its print run characteristics, and Meowth sits among its mid-tier cards by collector interest.

Porygon2 (Unseen Forces #12) climbed from $41.15 to $65.00, up $23.85 or 58.0%. Unseen Forces sits in the ex-era rather than the E-Series proper, and Porygon2 had been a relatively quiet card before this week's move.

The remaining two cards occupy lower price points but posted comparable percentage gains. Breloom (Sandstorm #33) went from $11.48 to $17.65, a $6.17 gain of 53.8%. Metagross (HS—Unleashed #4) moved from $7.30 to $11.22, adding $3.92 for a 53.7% gain. HS—Unleashed is notably outside the strict E-Series and ex-era window, sitting in the HeartGold & SoulSilver block, which makes its inclusion in this cluster worth noting.

Why Collectors Are Watching

Reverse holofoils from this era carry a reputation for condition sensitivity. The holofoil pattern on these cards appears on the card body rather than the artwork, and surface wear shows differently than on standard holofoils — a factor that tends to compress the supply of high-grade copies and can make price moves more volatile when demand shifts.

Whether the week's gains reflect a coordinated uptick in collector interest, a short-term supply squeeze in graded copies, or broader renewed attention to vintage non-holo and reverse holo formats is not clear from available data. No single set accounts for all five movers, which makes a set-specific catalyst unlikely as a sole explanation.

The spread across price tiers — from $11.22 to $180.00 — suggests the movement is not confined to high-end grail cards alone. Lower-cost reverse holofoils in the same era appear to be moving alongside their more expensive counterparts.

What the Data Shows

All five price moves were recorded over the same seven-day window ending September 11, 2026. The gains range from $3.92 to $67.50 in absolute terms and from 52.9% to 60.0% in percentage terms — a notably tight percentage band given the diversity of sets and price points involved.
