Vintage Reverse Holofoils Surge While 30th Celebration Cards Pull Back

Bulbasaur from Supreme Victors and Togetic from Team Rocket Returns each gained more than 54% in seven days, even as several 30th Celebration releases shed significant ground.

The week ending October 2, 2026 produced a sharp split on the movers list: two vintage reverse holofoils posted gains well above 50%, while three cards from the 30th Celebration set dropped between 33% and 41%. The divergence puts older, lower-supply singles in a different lane from the newer anniversary release, at least for this snapshot.

Vintage Reverse Holos Lead the Gainers

Bulbasaur from Supreme Victors (#93) moved from $94.59 to $149.00 over the seven-day window, a gain of $54.41 or 57.5%. That makes it the top percentage gainer tracked this week.

Togetic from Team Rocket Returns (#14) was close behind, climbing from $194.53 to $299.99 — a $105.46 increase representing a 54.2% gain. Both cards are reverse holofoils from sets that are no longer in print, and both had already established relatively high price floors before the week began.

What drove the moves is not confirmed by available data. Reverse holofoils from older sets are generally harder to find in collector-grade condition than their standard holo counterparts, and price swings of this size in a single week can reflect a small number of sales on a thin market. Whether the movement reflects sustained demand or a temporary spike remains to be seen.

30th Celebration Cards Give Back Ground

On the other side of the ledger, three 30th Celebration singles posted notable losses over the same period.

Jirachi ex recorded the largest dollar drop, falling from $116.18 to $77.52 — a loss of $38.66, or 33.3%. It remains the highest-priced of the three losers covered here despite the decline.

Maushold dropped from $22.48 to $14.90, a loss of $7.58 or 33.7%.

Palkia LV.X from the Classic Collection subset (#106) saw the steepest percentage decline of the three, falling from $16.08 to $9.44 — down $6.64, or 41.3%.

All three 30th Celebration cards also appeared in discounted retail coverage this week, which may be a contributing factor. When sealed product or individual cards become more widely available through retail channels at reduced prices, secondary market prices often adjust downward to reflect the lower barrier to acquisition. The extent to which retail discounting drove these specific moves is not confirmed.

What the Data Shows

The week's price action highlights two concurrent trends that collectors and trackers will want to watch separately. Vintage reverse holofoils with limited secondary market supply can move quickly and dramatically — the Bulbasaur and Togetic gains each exceeded $50 in nominal terms and more than 54% in percentage terms within a single week. Meanwhile, a newer set like 30th Celebration appears to still be finding its price equilibrium, with retail availability playing a visible role.

Whether the vintage gains hold or retrace, and whether the 30th Celebration declines stabilize, will be clearer in subsequent weekly windows.
